MINUTES OF

TOWN OF NORTH SALEM

COUNCIL MEETING

February 2, 2012

1.  CALL MEETING TO ORDER:

The February 2, 2012 Town of North Salem Council Meeting was called to order by Council President Mike Selch at 6:00 pm.  

2.  ROLL CALL:

Mike Selch – Present                           ____________________________

Rebecca Compton – Present             ____________________________

Mike Russell –  Present                       ____________________________

Mike S. mentioned the fact that Town Attorney Harold Blake was absent due to recent surgery.

3.  ELECTION OF OFFICERS:

Mike R. nominated Mike Selch for President; Rebecca seconded; motion passed unanimously.  Mike Selch nominated Mike R. for Vice President; Rebecca seconded; motion passed unanimously.

3.  READING OF MINUTES:

Mike S. asked if there were any additions or corrections for the January Council minutes; there being none Rebecca made a motion to approve as written; Mike R. seconded; passed unanimously.   In addition, Mike S. asked if there were any additions or corrections for the minutes of the BZA Meeting; there being none, Rebecca made a motion to approve as written; Mike R. seconded; passed unanimously.

4.  OLD ITEMS:

a.  Clean Up – cases are still pending with Hendricks County.

b.  Utility Bills, Examination and SBA – tabled until new code is examined.

c.   Rainy Day Fund – tabled until more information is received.

d.  Department of Justice –  still awaiting payment in the form of ACH to our bank account.

5.  NEW ITEMS:

a.  We received our 1782 notice.  Our budget was decreased because projected revenues were insufficient to fund the adopted budget.  Our General Fund  was reduced by $7,349;  MVH Fund was reduced by $18,655; and our LRS Fund was reduced by $24,227.00.  

6.  REPORTS:

a.  Mike S. stated that Marshal John Berry and Deputy Josh Butler were in Danville for a special meeting but gave the Council Members a copy of John’s written report.

b.  Rebecca stated that she is still working to find information on grants that may be available to small towns for sidewalk repair.

7.  PUBLIC

a.  Gary Harris had a few questions regarding the North Salem Police Department with regard to driver training and profiling experience.   Mike S. stated that John went through the Town Marshal course and Deputy Butler went through the academy.    The Council recommended that Gary speak directly with Marshal Berry if he had any questions or concerns.

8.  ADJOURNMENT:

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:17 pm.

The next Council meeting will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 6:00 pm.
